The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald
SS Edmund Fitzgerald was a cargo ship carrying 26,000 tons of iron ore pellets when it sank suddenly during a gale storm on November 10, 1975, while on Lake Superior. At the time it was launched in 1958, the 729-foot long, 75-foot wide freighter was the largest ship to ply the Great Lakes. The ship went down without a distress signal in 530 feetof water. All 29 members of the crew perished.
